EU HTA Joined Clinical Advice (JCA): Challenges and Opportunities with Indirect Treatment Comparisons and NMAs
A Talk by Necdet Gunsoy PhD (Founder & Managing Director, Evimed)
About this Talk
This workshop provides a broad overview of Indirect Treatment Comparisons (ITCs) in Health Technology Assessment (HTA), covering both foundational concepts, including processes, and statistical approaches. Participants will gain insights into the role of ITCs in HTA, Joint Clinical Assessment (JCA), and reimbursement processes. The session will briefly introduce key JCA & HTA bodies' requirements for ITCs. The workshop will then provide a rapid tour of statistical methods used in ITCs, including the Bucher method, frequentist, and Bayesian Network Meta-Analysis, population adjustment methods (MAIC/STC/PAIC), meta-regression, and emerging approaches like ML-NMR. The workshop will end with highlighting challenges with JCA submissions and discuss opportunities to overcome these. By the end of this workshop, participants will have a basic understanding of:
- The importance of ITCs in JCA/HTA and reimbursement decision-making
- Various statistical approaches for conducting ITCs
- Key considerations in choosing and implementing ITC methods for JCA
- Key challenges and opportunities in the preparation of JCA submissions
This workshop is ideal for statisticians seeking an introduction to JCA/HTA requirements and methods for ITCs.
